Regular Season Round 18: Haukar - Fjolnir 88-77

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Fjolnir (12-4) in Hafnarfjordur on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Haukar (9-5) 88-77. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Fjolnir. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Fjolnir managed to win third quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar forced 22 Fjolnir turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Keira Robinson (175-94, college: VCU) scored 25 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Elisabeth Aegisdottir (186-3) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Aliyah Mazyck (175-96, college: USC) with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international forward Dagny Davidsdottir (187-97, college: Wyoming) scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Haukar have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-5 record. Fjolnir at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. Haukar are looking forward to face Grindavik (#7) on the road in the next round. Fjolnir will play against Skallagrimur (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
