There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Galil Gilboa (6-10) won against higher ranked Galil Elion (8-7) in Rosh Pina 71-62 on Thursday. British-American power forward Sacha Killeya-Jones (212-1998, college: NC State) nailed 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Tyus Battle (197-1997, college: Syracuse) accounted for 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Galil Gilboa players scored in double figures. Nigerian point guard Ike Iroegbu (188-1995, college: WSU) came up with 23 points and 8 rebounds and international Nimrod Levi (208-1995) added 7 points and 17 rebounds respectively for Galil Elion in the defeat. Galil Elion's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Galil Gilboa maintains eleventh place with 6-10 record. Newly promoted Galil Elion keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with H.Tel-Aviv and H.Haifa. Galil Gilboa will meet at home higher ranked Hapoel Holon (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Galil Elion will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem and will have a slim chance for a victory.
