No shocking result in a game when fifteenth ranked Chalons-Reims (7-12) beat at home bottom-ranked Provence Basket (5-14) 81-72 on Friday. They outrebounded Provence Basket 30-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. Chalons-Reims looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Orlando Coleman (196-92, college: Texas Southern) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech) accounted for 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Chalons-Reims players scored in double figures. American point guard Jamar Diggs (190-88, college: Wofford) came up with 26 points and 5 assists and American-Liberian Lasan Kromah (198-91, college: UConn) added 8 points and 4 assists respectively for Provence Basket in the defeat. Chalons-Reims moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Provence Basket lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Chalons-Reims will meet at home higher ranked Le Mans (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Provence Basket will play against Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
