Regular Season Round 19: Hottur - Hrunamenn 111-86

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hottur as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Hottur smashed 8th ranked Hrunamenn in Egilsstadir 111-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hrunamenn. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 111-86. Hottur outrebounded Hrunamenn 47-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Tim Guers (190-96, college: St.Anselm) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. Spanish forward Juan Luis Navarro (196-91) helped adding 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Hottur's coach Einar Johannsson felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Clayton Ladine (188, college: Rocky Mountain) responded with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import forward Kent Hanson (198-97, college: Carleton) scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Hrunamenn at the other side keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Hrunamenn will play next round against Selfoss trying to get back on the winning streak. Hottur will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Fjolnir in Reykjavik.
