Regular Season Round 23: Pyrinto - Kataja 104-72

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Pyrinto's (12-10) home victory over 7th ranked Kataja (10-12) 104-72. The game was mostly controlled by Pyrinto. Kataja was better in third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kataja's 28. Pyrinto had a 32-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for guard Ike Smith (193-97, college: Georgia South) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Devante Foster (206-98, college: Arkansas Tech, agency: One Motive Sports) accounted for 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Pyrinto players scored in double figures. Pyrinto's coach Miikka Sopanen felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson (198-91, college: Temple) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Nick Griffin (188-95, college: St.Peter's) added 17 points respectively for Kataja in the defeat. Pyrinto maintains sixth place with 12-10 record. Kataja at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost.
