Regular Season Round 16: Zamora - Zornotza 78-58

There was an upset when top-ranked Zornotza (11-4) was outleveled on the road by fifth ranked Zamora (10-6) 78-58 on Saturday. Zamora held Zornotza to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.4 percent accuracy of the winners and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by DR Congolese center Gracin Bakumanya (211-97, agency: Duran International) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and forward Ismael Tamba (201-1) supported him with 16 points. Four Zamora players scored in double figures. Even 20 points by guard Alberto Cabrera (187-98) did not help to save the game for Zornotza. Forward Mikel Sainz De La Maza (195-95) added 8 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zamora moved-up to fourth place in Silver. Loser Zornotza still keeps top position with four games lost. Zamora will meet Ponferrada (#8) on the road in the next round. Zornotza will play against Burgos (#5) and hope to secure a win.
