Very expected game when 16th ranked Maresme (1-17) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked Estepona (11-7) 75-54 on Saturday. Estepona dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Maresme's 18. They outrebounded Maresme 40-25 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Montenegrin center Ana Pocek (190-93) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Senegalese swingman Yacine Diop (178-95, college: Louisville) chipped in 20 points. Estepona's coach Beatriz Pacheco felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was Serbian forward Adrijana Knezevic (183-87) with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Swiss Camila Martinez (183-1) scored 13 points and 4 assists. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Estepona. They maintain sixth place with 11-7 record. Maresme lost their seventh game in a row. They stay dead last with 17 lost games. Estepona will meet Paterna (#10) on the road in the next round. Maresme will play against Real Canoe (#13) and hope to win that game.
