Regular Season Round 19: Sassari - Bologna 91-95

Very expected game when 9th ranked Sassari (6-8) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Bologna (11-3) 95-91 on Saturday. Bologna outrebounded Sassari 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Brianna Turner (191-96, college: Notre Dame) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists. International forward Cecilia Zandalasini (186-96) helped adding 16 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Jessica Shepard (193-96, college: Notre Dame) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of her eight free throws) and the other American import guard Maggie Lucas (178-91, college: Penn St.) scored 29 points and 4 assists (made all of her fifteen free throws !!!). Five Bologna and four Sassari players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bologna. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Sassari keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Bologna will meet Ragusa (#5) on the road in the next round. Sassari will play against Moncalieri (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
