There was no surprise when 14th ranked Marratxi (1-15) lost at home to fifth ranked Casablanca (10-6) 58-46 on Saturday. Casablanca dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Marratxi's 20. Casablanca forced 27 Marratxi turnovers. Guard Ana Tainta (173-0, college: Portland St.) nailed 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and swingman Raquel Terrer (170-0, college: NDSU) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Casablanca's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Margalida Braque (175-97) came up with 10 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian point guard Mirjana Beronja (170-86) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Marratxi in the defeat. Casablanca maintains fifth place in Group B with 10-6 record. Marratxi lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Casablanca will meet at home Almeda (#9) in the next round. Marratxi will play against Picken Claret (#8) in Valencia and hope to win that game.
