Regular Season Round 13: Midtbyen - Baerum 44-94

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Trondheim. Second ranked Baerum faced 4th placed Midtbyen. Guests from Sandvika (12-2) smashed host Midtbyen (6-7) 94-44. Baerum held Midtbyen to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Baerum forced 21 Midtbyen turnovers and outrebounded them 56-37 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Julie McCarthy (190-93, college: Florida Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 29 rebounds. American guard Raziyah Farrington (173-97, college: Charleston) contributed with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Farrington is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Baerum players scored in double figures. Forward Ingeborg Gundersen (180-0) answered with 11 points and 9 rebounds and Fredrikke Hylen (174-96) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Midtbyen. Midtbyen's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Baerum have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-2 record having just two points less than leader Ulriken. Newly promoted Midtbyen keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Ullern. Baerum will play against Bergen (#6) at home in the next round. Midtbyen will play against Hoybraten and hopes to get back on the winning track.
