Regular Season Round 19: ASVEL - Strasbourg 86-81

There was no surprise when 8th ranked SIG Strasbourg (9-8) lost on the road to third ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (12-6) 86-81 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Chris Jones (188-93, college: Angelo St.) who led the winners and scored 28 points. His fellow American import guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: MTSU) accounted for 8 points and 5 assists for the winning side. American swingman Kameron Taylor (198-94, college: Seton Hill) came up with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Leopold Cavaliere (203-96) added 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for SIG Strasbourg in the defeat. Four SIG Strasbourg players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Monaco. SIG Strasbourg lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will meet at home league's second-placed Monaco in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SIG Strasbourg will play against Gravelines-Dunkerque (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
