Regular Season Round 24: Rennes - Cergy-Pontoise 99-77

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Union Rennes (7-16) outscored at home higher ranked Pontoise (11-13) 99-77 on Tuesday. Union Rennes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pontoise's 38. Union Rennes had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Union Rennes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Union Rennes looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was Guinean forward Cheick Sekou-Conde (203-92) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Ivorian point guard Bryan Pamba-Juille (186-92) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. Union Rennes' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-98, college: NDSU) who recorded 18 points and 8 assists and naturalized Senegalese forward Antoine Mendy (198-83, agency: Interperformances) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Union Rennes and four Pontoise players scored in double figures. Union Rennes maintains thirteenth position in Group A with 7-16 record. Newly promoted Pontoise keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. Union Rennes will meet higher ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pontoise will play against La Rochelle and hope to secure a win.
