There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Menorca (8-7) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Valencia 2 (5-10) 90-72 on Tuesday. Valencia 2 forced 19 Menorca turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Millan Jimenez (196-2) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Guillem Ferrando (186-2) chipped in 16 points. Forward Pablo Gonzalez (190-1) produced 20 points and French center Thomas Smallwood (213-95, college: Chattanooga) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Menorca players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Valencia 2 maintains tenth place in Silver with 5-10 record. Loser Menorca keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Valencia 2 will meet higher ranked Mollet (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Menorca will play against Real Canoe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
