Rather predictable result in Torrelavega where fourth ranked Cantabria (11-3) defeated 7th ranked Gijon (8-9) 84-67 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Gijon 37-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. Cantabria looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Fernando Sierra (196-95) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Alejandro Marin (193-88) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Cantabria's coach David Mangas used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Dominican guard Quarry Greenaway (193-94, college: JWU, RI) produced 18 points and American-Italian point guard Anthony Libroia (180-94, college: Adelphi) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Cantabria moved-up to second place in Silver. Loser Gijon dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Cantabria will meet Clavijo (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
