Regular Season Round 24: Vilpas - Nokia 81-87

There was a small surprise in Salo where seventh ranked Nokia (11-11) defeated 5th ranked Vilpas (12-10) 87-81. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-12. But Vilpas won second period 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Puerto Rican power forward Arnaldo Toro (203-97, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds. American guard Justin Pierce (201-98, college: UNC, agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 22 points for the winners. American power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Inception Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import guard Marcus LoVett Jr (183-96, college: St.John's) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Vilpas. Five Nokia and four Vilpas players scored in double figures. Vilpas' coach Sami Toiviainen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nokia maintains seventh position with 11-11 record. Defending champion Vilpas keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Pyrinto.
