There was a small surprise in Reykjavik where sixth ranked Stjarnan (9-7) won against one of their biggest challengers Valur (9-7) 78-74 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 20-7 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Stjarnan dominated on the defensive end, holding Valur to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game, while Valur only scored 0 point from the stripe. Stjarnan forced 19 Valur turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Robert Turner III (193-93, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 assists and the former international guard Hilmar Henningsson (196-0, agency: Duran International) who added 19 points and 4 steals during the contest. Four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Kari Jonsson (192-97, college: Drexel) responded with 29 points and the former international forward Kristofer Acox (200-93, college: Furman) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Stjarnan moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Grindavik and Valur. Stjarnan will meet at home KR (#7) in the next round. Valur's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena IR.
