Rather predictable result in Akureyri where tenth ranked IR (7-9) outscored bottom-ranked Thor AK (1-14) 108-71 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 108-71. IR dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Thor AK's 34. They outrebounded Thor AK 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. IR looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Thor AK's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when IR made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Sigvaldi Eggertsson (201-0) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and American-French forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St., agency: Octagon Europe) who added 20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks during the contest. Five IR players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Dui Jonsson (178-1) responded with 24 points and 5 assists and American power forward Reggie Keely (204-91, college: Ohio) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. IR moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Breidablik. Thor AK lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. IR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik Valur.
