Regular Season Round 16: Breidablik - Grindavik 104-92

There was a minor upset in Kopavogur where 6th ranked Grindavik (9-7) was defeated by eighth ranked Breidablik (7-9) 104-92 on Friday. The game without a history. Breidablik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Coastal) who helped to win the game recording 32 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Hilmar Petursson (190-0) who added 26 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and Spanish forward Ivan Aurrecoechea (203-95, college: NM State) scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. Five Breidablik and four Grindavik players scored in double figures. Breidablik have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Breidablik went down to ninth position due to points difference, which they share with IR. Grindavik at the other side dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Valur and Stjarnan. Breidablik will meet league's leader Thor Thorl in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Grindavik will play against the league's second-placed Njardvik having rather not much hope for a victory.
