There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Union Rennes (8-17) won against on the road 10th ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (11-12) 83-78 on Friday. Union Rennes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Mohamad Diop (204-1999) fired 23 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners. Guinean forward Cheick Sekou-Conde (203-1992) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Union Rennes' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Mozambican-American guard Kendal Manuel (194-1997, college: Montana, agency: Inception Sports) produced 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Kilian Incredule (175-1996) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Union Rennes maintains thirteenth place in Group A with 8-17 record. Loser Lourdes-Tarbes dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Union Rennes will meet at home higher ranked Dax-Gamarde (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lourdes-Tarbes will play against La Rochelle (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
