Regular Season Round 20: Rivas - Socuellamos 87-78

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Socuellamos (9-10) lost on the road to third ranked Rivas (13-7) 87-78 on Saturday. Rivas outrebounded Socuellamos 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by point guard Alvaro Frutos (188-87) who scored that evening 18 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Albert Serra (193-93) supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even 28 points and 6 rebounds by American guard Jordan Hickman (201-96, college: Sonoma St.) did not help to save the game for Socuellamos. Canadian point guard Adrian Armstrong (183, college: Concordia) added 22 points and 4 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Rivas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group B with 13-7 record behind leader Lliria. Newly promoted Socuellamos dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. Rivas will meet Majadahonda (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Socuellamos will play against the league's second-placed Real Madrid 2 (#2) and hope to secure a win.
