Not a big story in a game in Amorebieta-Echano where 14th ranked Carbajosa (3-14) was defeated by third ranked Zornotza (12-5) 67-63 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Zornotza shot 20 for 27 from the free-throw line, while Carbajosa only scored four points from the stripe. Forward Borja Mendia (200-94) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Montenegrin forward Danilo Brnovic (200-0) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Josep Peris (192-0) with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Jahvaughn Powell (183-96, college: Nicholls St.) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Zornotza moved-up to second place in Silver. Loser Carbajosa keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Zornotza will meet Ponferrada (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Carbajosa will play against Navarra (#10) and hope to secure a win.
