Regular Season Round 20: La Zubia - Benahavis 81-75

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Benahavis (9-8) lost on the road to third ranked La Zubia (11-4) 81-75 on Saturday. The winners were led by forward Eloy Almazan (199-84) who scored that evening 28 points and 8 rebounds and point guard David Garcia (180-93) supported him with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Canadian forward Evan Pellerin (199-82, college: Stonehill) did not help to save the game for Benahavis. Pedro Lopez (-0) added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Benahavis' coach Rafael Sanchez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. La Zubia maintains third position in Group D-A with 11-4 record having five points less than leader Lliria. Loser Benahavis keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. La Zubia will meet CAM E.Soler 2 (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Benahavis will play against Oh!Tels ULB (#7) in La Linea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
