Regular Season Round 20: Tenerife Naut. - La Matanza 68-74

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Tenerife Naut. (9-11) lost to ninth ranked La Matanza (9-9) in Santa Cruz 68-74 on Saturday. La Matanza forced 19 Tenerife Naut. turnovers. The winners were led by forward Romen Hernandez (200-91) who scored that evening 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Imobach Pomares (192-94) supported him with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four La Matanza players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 6 rebounds by power forward Javier Martinez (200-3) did not help to save the game for Tenerife Naut.. Point guard Alberto Hernandez (183-99) added 11 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. La Matanza moved-up to sixth place in Group B. Loser Tenerife Naut. dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Zentro Basket 2. La Matanza will meet at home league's second-placed Real Madrid 2 in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tenerife Naut. will play against Guimar (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
