Regular Season Round 17: Ferrara - Fabriano 89-69
Date: February 12, 2022
Very expected game when 14th ranked Fabriano (3-14) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked Ferrara (9-8) 89-69 on Saturday. Ferrara looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ferrara made 7 blocks. Guard Alessandro Panni (185-91) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and power forward Giovanni Vildera (205-95) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds. American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-88, college: GWU) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Ferdinando Matrone (208-95, agency: SLN) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Five Ferrara and four Fabriano players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ferrara maintains sixth place in A2 with 9-8 record. Newly promoted Fabriano keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Ferrara will meet at home Latina (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Fabriano will play against Nardo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
