Regular Season Round 20: Alfinden - Mataro AE Parc 77-80

There was a surprise result when seventh ranked Mataro Parc (7-8) edged second-ranked Alfinden (11-5) in Zaragoza 80-77 on Saturday. The winners were led by naturalized Mexican forward Mauricio Cheda (198-90, college: UTEP) who scored that evening 16 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Alberto Reyes (195-90) supported him with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Even 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by power forward Chechu Malo (203-96) did not help to save the game for Alfinden. Senegalese center Mamadou Diagne (208-98) added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Mataro Parc moved-up to sixth place in Group C-2. Loser Alfinden keeps the second position with five games lost. Mataro Parc will meet at home Badalones (#11) in the next round where they are favorite. Alfinden will play against Llucmajor (#7) and hope to secure a win.
