Not a big story in a game in Malaga where 9th ranked Coruna (7-10) was defeated by fourth ranked Unicaja (12-5) 62-49 on Saturday. Unicaja outrebounded Coruna 50-34 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 19 rebounds. Swingman Salome Garcia (178-92) chipped in 17 points. Four Unicaja players scored in double figures. Unicaja's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Amy Griffin (183-96, college: La Salle) who recorded 18 points and 6 rebounds and Laura Martinez (-0) added 7 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Unicaja maintains fourth position in Group A with 12-5 record. Coruna lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Cortegada. Unicaja will meet GDKO Bizkaia (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Coruna will play against Leon (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
