We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Torta del Casar (6-11) lost to ninth ranked Portuense (4-10) in El Puerto de Santa Maria 76-94 on Saturday. Portuense made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Torta del Casar only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Torta del Casar 48-32 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by forward Abraham Silva (192-94) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and Serbian Dejan Ilincic (211-99, college: Southeastern) supported him with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Portuense's coach Eladio Vazquez used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Even 17 points and 9 rebounds by forward Lorenzo Diaz (195-86) did not help to save the game for Torta del Casar. Forward Juan Santos (196-2) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Portuense went down to tenth position (Group D-B) due to points difference. Torta del Casar lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 11 games lost. Portuense will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Torta del Casar will play against Dos Hermanas (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
