Very expected game when 10th ranked Paterna (8-12) lost at home to sixth ranked Estepona (12-7) 83-71 on Saturday. Estepona dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Paterna's 28. They outrebounded Paterna 43-31 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Montenegrin center Ana Pocek (190-93) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Laura Stockton (173, college: Gonzaga) supported her with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Estepona players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 4 assists by Croatian guard Inja Butina (175-95, college: Seton Hall) did not help to save the game for Paterna. Power forward Iciar German (185-86) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Estepona have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 12-7 record. Loser Paterna dropped to the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Estepona will meet at home Plasencia (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Paterna will play against Real Canoe (#12) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
