Regular Season Round 19: Pozzuoli - Salerno 76-78

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Pozzuoli (7-12) was edged at home by fourth ranked Salerno (13-6) 78-76 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Andrea Valentini (199-98, agency: SLN) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Niccolo Rinaldi (198-93) accounted for 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Montenegrin power forward Fatih Mehmedovic (205-0, agency: SLN) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Antonio Gallo (182-0, agency: Players Group) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists respectively for Pozzuoli in the defeat. Salerno maintains fourth place in B with 13-6 record. Loser Pozzuoli dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Salerno will meet at home league's leader Agrigento in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pozzuoli will play against Sant Antimo (#8) in Napoli and hope to secure a win.
