Regular Season Round 16: Raiders - Vilpas 86-46

Very expected game when 9th ranked Vilpas (2-10) was smashed by second ranked Raiders (9-3) in Jarvenpaa 86-46 on Saturday. The game without a history. Raiders led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Vilpas' 20. Raiders forced 26 Vilpas turnovers. The winners were led by forward Elmo Lehtonen (191-3) who scored that evening 17 points and guard Ossi Eskola (188-3) supported him with 12 points and 6 assists. Four Raiders players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by center Onni Makynen (198-4) did not help to save the game for Vilpas. Guard Tuukka Juntunen (193-4) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Raiders maintains second position with 9-3 record having just one point less than leader OBA. Vilpas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with ten games lost. Raiders will meet Honka (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vilpas will play against Pyrinto (#5) in Tampere and hope to secure a win.
