Regular Season Round 15: Peristeri - Iraklis 71-68

Twelfth-ranked Iraklis (3-9) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Peristeri (7-7) in Athens. Peristeri managed to secure only three-point victory 71-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-20. But Iraklis won second period 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Iraklis outrebounded Peristeri 47-29 including 21 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for Polish forward Tomasz Gielo (205-93, college: Ole Miss) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Dimitris Moraitis (194-99) contributed with 11 points and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Myke Henry (198-92, college: DePaul) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and guard Dimitrios Stamatis (190-96) added 19 points in the effort for Iraklis. Four Iraklis players scored in double figures. Peristeri maintains fifth place with 7-7 record. Iraklis lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. Peristeri will play against PAOK (#6) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Iraklis will play at home against Larissa BC (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
