Regular Season Round 24: Walbrzych - Krosno 78-79

A very close game took place in Walbrzych between Krosno and Gornik. Twelfth ranked Krosno (9-11) got a very close victory on the road over second-best Gornik (17-6). Krosno managed to escape with a 1-point win 79-78 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gornik. They outrebounded Gornik 49-37 including 34 on the defensive glass. Krosno looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Szymon Szymanski (205-96, agency: Octagon Europe) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized German forward Julian Jasinski (201-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Krzysztof Jakobczyk (183-86) who recorded 23 points and 5 rebounds and guard Marcin Dymala (187-90) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Five Krosno and four Gornik players scored in double figures. Krosno moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Gornik dropped to the third position with six games lost. Krosno will meet at home league's second-placed Kotwica in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gornik will play against Lublin 2 and hope to secure a win.
