Regular Season Round 17: Liepaja/LSSS - TalTech 79-71

Very expected game when 9th ranked Estonian TalTech (7-11) was defeated on the road by third ranked Latvian Liepaja/LSSS (12-5) 79-71 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But TalTech won fourth quarter 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Liepaja/LSSS made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Liepaja/LSSS outrebounded TalTech 48-32 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Latvian guard Ketija Vihmane (176-2001) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Latvian guard Raivita Korenika (182-2001) chipped in 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Liepaja/LSSS players scored in double figures. Liepaja/LSSS's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Annika Koster (182-1992) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Marie Sepp (168-2002) scored 17 points and 5 steals. Liepaja/LSSS maintains third place with 12-5 record having nine points less than leader RSU 2. TalTech lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Tallina U.. Liepaja/LSSS will meet at home Neptunas (#4) in the next round. TalTech will play against LCC Tarp. (#12) and hope to secure a win.
