Regular Season Round 18: Casablanca - Almeda 47-56

There was an upset in Zaragoza where higher ranked Casablanca (10-7) was defeated by ninth ranked Almeda (8-8) 56-47 on Saturday. Almeda held Casablanca to an opponent 22.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.8 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was forward Marina Avinoa (180-4) who scored 14 points. Carlota Diaz-Guerra (-3) chipped in 10 points. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Ana Tainta (173-0, college: Portland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Raquel Terrer (170-0, college: NDSU) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Casablanca's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Almeda have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Lleida and Picken Claret. Loser Casablanca keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Almeda will meet at home Picken Claret (#7) in the next round. Casablanca will play against Mataro and hope to secure a win.
