Regular Season Round 17: KR - Armann 69-75
Date: February 12, 2022
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: Armann (#1) and KR (#4). KR was defeated at home 69-75 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. KR trailed by 18 points at halftime and as many as 23 after three quarters before a 27-10 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 69-75 at the end of the game. Armann forced 19 KR turnovers. American forward Schekinah Bimpa (175-1998, college: Limestone) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard Jonina Karlsdottir (166-1999) chipped in 21 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Bimpa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Chelsea Jennings (175-1994, college: Texas A&M) responded with 26 points and 6 assists and power forward Hulda Bergsteinsdottir (180-1999) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. KR's coach Hordur Unnsteinsson rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Armann (13-2) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place. KR at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Armann are looking forward to face Snaefell (#3) in Stykkisholmur in the next round, which may be the game of the day. KR will play on the road against Athena-UMFK in Reykjavík and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
