Regular Season Round 17: HNMKY - Raiders Basket 84-81 OT

6th ranked Raiders Basket (8-8) fell to ninth ranked HNMKY (7-9) in overtime by three points 81-84. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Raiders Basket won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Raiders Basket used huge pressure winning it 21-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 11-14. Guard Santeri Makkonen (195-1) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and guard Emil Skytta (194-3) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five HNMKY players scored in double figures. American forward Ahmad Gilbert (201-96, college: St.Thomas, FL) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Devaughn Jenkins (201-95, college: Angelo St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Raiders Basket's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. HNMKY have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place. Raiders Basket at the other side keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. HNMKY's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Helsinki to the arena ToPo Juniorit.
