There was no surprise when 6th ranked Savona (7-7) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Firenze (11-6) 74-52 on Sunday. Firenze made 22-of-22 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game, while Savona only scored six points from the stripe. Guard Marta Rossini (170-1) stepped up and scored 28 points (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and swingman Flavia De Cassan (175-98) chipped in 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Lucrezia Zanetti (178-97, agency: Interperformances) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and forward Beatrice Paleari (173-1) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Firenze maintains fourth place in A2 with 11-6 record. Newly promoted Savona keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Firenze will meet at home Nico Basket (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Savona will play against Matelica (#11) and hope to secure a win.
