Regular Season Round 18: Baerum Basket - Kongsberg 90-74

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kongsberg (14-7) against fourth ranked Baerum Basket (15-8) on Sunday night. Visiting Kongsberg was defeated by Baerum Basket in Bekkestua 90-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kongsberg. Baerum Basket forced 22 Kongsberg turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: UNH) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. The former international guard Stian Mjoes (183-89) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. Gilchrese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Croatian Marin Mornar (205-93, college: LMU) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian guard Ognjen Nisavic (195-92, agency: Jones Sports International) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Kongsberg. Five Baerum Basket and four Kongsberg players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Baerum Basket have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Kongsberg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Baerum Basket will play against Asker Aliens (#6) on the road in the next round. Kongsberg will play against Asker Aliens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
