Regular Season Round 20: Njardvik - Fjolnir 82-55

An interesting game for Njardvik (12-6) which hosted in Njardvik second-ranked Fjolnir (13-5). Third ranked Njardvik had an easy win 82-55. The game without a history. Njardvik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Fjolnir to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.2 percent accuracy of the winners and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Njardvik forced 19 Fjolnir turnovers and outrebounded them 69-34 including a 51-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Fjolnir's players. The winners were led by American guard Aliyah Collier (177-1997, college: Clemson) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 30 points, 23 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Portuguese-British center Lavinia Silva (187-1988) supported her with 22 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 24 points and 9 rebounds by American guard Aliyah Mazyck (175-1996, college: USC) did not help to save the game for Fjolnir. Serbian-Hungarian swingman Sanja Orozovic (186-1990) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Njardvik maintains third position with 12-6 record behind leader Fjolnir. Fjolnir at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Njardvik will meet at home Keflavik (#5) in the next round. Fjolnir's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena Valur.
