Regular Season Round 17: Latvija U16 - Ridzene 63-71

There was no surprise in Riga where 8th ranked Latvija U16 (7-8) was defeated by third ranked Ridzene (8-4) 71-63 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-63. Ridzene forced 34 Latvija U16 turnovers. Guard Endija Sedlina (171-2004) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Latvian guard Elina Briede (167-2005) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Ridzene players scored in double figures. Center Elza Palma (187-2006) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and forward Darta Ivane (190-2006) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ridzene maintains third place with 8-4 record having eighteen points less than leader RSU 2. Latvija U16 lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
