No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Alicante (10-11) won against on the road bottom-ranked Huesca (2-19) 85-70 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was British center Aaron Menzies (221-1996, college: St.Mary's, CA) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. American Gerel Simmons (188-1993, college: LMU, agency: Duran International) chipped in 20 points. Menzies is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Alicante's coach Gonzalo Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Jaime Fernandez (206-2000) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds and forward Jorge Lafuente (197-1991) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Five Alicante and four Huesca players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Alicante went down to eleventh position due to points difference. Huesca lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Alicante will meet at home Palma (#17) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Huesca will play against the league's leader Granada where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
