There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Zarautz (5-16) won against on the road higher ranked Solares (8-10) 67-60 on Sunday. The winners were led by guard Antonio Guerrero (179-1) who scored that evening 19 points and swingman Eneko Juarros (193-98) supported him with 18 points. Zarautz's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 26 points and 9 rebounds by American-British center Kaj-Bjorn Sherman (213-92, college: UTSA) did not help to save the game for Solares. Forward Saul Alonso (194-1) added 6 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Zarautz moved-up to fourteenth place in Group A-A. Loser Solares keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Zarautz will meet at home higher ranked Cantbasket (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Solares will play against Leioa and hope to secure a win.
