Regular Season Round 22: M.Ashdod - Hapoel H/M 96-95

The most exciting game of round 22 in the National League took place in Ashdod. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Hapoel H/M (15-6) to fourteenth ranked M.Ashdod (5-13) 96-95 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hapoel H/M. M.Ashdod made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Hapoel H/M turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Hapoel H/M helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Cuban swingman Yunio Barrueta (196-1993, college: Barry, agency: BIG) fired 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American-Puerto Rican Christopher Ortiz (203-1993, college: Kent St.) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds. American Jimmy Hall (203-1994, college: Kent St., agency: Slash Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Eyal Shulman (192-1987, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 24 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel H/M's coach Yehu Orland rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. M.Ashdod moved-up to thirteenth place. Hapoel H/M at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. M.Ashdod are looking forward to face league's leader I.Nahariya on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hapoel H/M will play against H.Izrael in Nazareth and is hoping to win this game.
