Third-ranked Seagulls was very close to win a game against Kauhajoki. Kauhajoki managed to secure only three-point victory 101-98. However their fans expected easier game. Kauhajoki dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Seagulls' 48. Kauhajoki had a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Cameron Jones (193-1989, college: NAU, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Simeon Carter (203-1996, college: Georgia South) chipped in 23 points and 12 rebounds. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side international Shawn Huff (198-1984, college: Valpo) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and guard Lassi Nikkarinen (187-1997, college: Montana St.) scored 16 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Seagulls' coach Jussi Laakso tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kauhajoki will play against KTP Basket in Kotka in the next round. Seagulls will play at home against Vilpas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
