Regular Season Round 17: Stjarnan - KR 90-79

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked KR (7-8) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Stjarnan (10-7) 90-79 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Stjarnan. KR managed to win third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded KR 50-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Robert Turner III (193-1993, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Finnish guard Shawn Hopkins (198-1995, college: N.Georgia, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Danish guard Adama Darboe (190-1986, agency: Slash Sports) produced 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Bjorn Kristjansson (191-1992) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Stjarnan. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Valur. Loser KR keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Stjarnan will meet Tindastoll (#7) in the next round. KR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik IR.
