Regular Season Round 18: Raiders Basket - Kouvot Ak. 84-66

Everything went according to plan in Jarvenpaa where sixth ranked Raiders Basket (9-9) beat 9th ranked Kouvot Ak. (7-11) 84-66 on Friday. The game without a history. Raiders Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kouvot Ak.'s 32. Raiders Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Raiders Basket made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Devaughn Jenkins (201-1995, college: Angelo St.) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Center Aleksi Liukko (211-1999) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Raiders Basket players scored in double figures. Raiders Basket's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Teemu Kristeri (195-2002) who recorded 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and center Veeti Helakorpi (206-2002) added 6 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Despite that victory Raiders Basket went down to seventh position (1st Division) due to points difference. Loser Kouvot Ak. keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Raiders Basket will meet Pyrinto Ak.A (#10) in the next round. Kouvot Ak. will play against the league's leader ToPo Juniorit where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
