Regular Season Round 21: ASVEL - Nanterre 95-91

There was no surprise when 7th ranked JSF Nanterre (11-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (15-7) 95-91 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to JSF Nanterre's 40. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Chris Jones (188-1993, college: Angelo St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 assists for the winners and guard Marcos Knight (188-1989, college: MTSU) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket's coach Terence Parker used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Nick Johnson (191-1992, college: Arizona) with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Jeremy Senglin (188-1995, college: Weber St.) scored 18 points. Four ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket and five JSF Nanterre players scored in double figures. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 15-7 record behind leader Levallois. JSF Nanterre lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with Limoges CSP. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will meet JDA Dijon (#5) on the road in the next round. JSF Nanterre will play against Cholet Basket and hope to secure a win.
