Regular Season Round 21: Le Portel - Strasbourg 84-88

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked SIG Strasbourg (12-9) won against on the road 15th ranked Le Portel (7-14) 88-84 on Friday. SIG Strasbourg forced 21 Le Portel turnovers. Strangely Le Portel outrebounded SIG Strasbourg 34-22 including 22 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Matt Mitchell (198-1999, college: SDSU) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and Czech Jaromir Bohacik (197-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 16 points. The best for the losing side was Beninese power forward Mouphtaou Yarou (206-1990, college: Villanova) with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American forward Devin Davis (198-1995, college: Houston) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SIG Strasbourg have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory SIG Strasbourg went down to sixth position due to points difference, which they share with Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Le Portel at the other side keeps the fifteenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Chalons-Reims and Paris. SIG Strasbourg will meet bottom-ranked Provence Basket (#18) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Le Portel will play against Limoges CSP Elite and hope to secure a win.
