Regular Season Round 16: Brod na Savi - Pula 91-74

There was an upset in Slavonski Brod where higher ranked Pula (6-8) was defeated by eleventh ranked Brod na Savi (4-12) 91-74 on Saturday. Brod na Savi dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Pula's 30. They outrebounded Pula 44-32 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Shanice Johnson (183-1994, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 19 rebounds and the other American import center Ashanti Thomas (193-1997, college: Butler) who added 18 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. Brod na Savi's coach Drazen Rimarcuk used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Katarina Trehub (192-1997) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Kelli Schrauth (180-1997, college: Cardinal Stritch) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Five Brod na Savi and four Pula players scored in double figures. Brod na Savi moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Sibenik and Split. Loser Pula keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Brod na Savi will meet higher ranked FSV Rijeka (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pula will play against Zagreb and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
