Regular Season Round 21: Esportiu - Paterna 63-88

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Esportiu (1-4) was outplayed at home by third ranked Paterna (4-1) 88-63 on Saturday. Paterna outrebounded Esportiu 49-31 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Carlos Cerdan (190-1997) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Hector Marco (197-2003) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was center Miguel Moragas (203-1994) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Xavi Le Berre (186-1993) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Paterna. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Esportiu keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Paterna will meet at home Picken Claret (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Esportiu will play against Gandia and hope to win that game.
